All-Star Weekend!

This week the Rockets have played two games, coming up with a victory and a loss. The team played back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, the Rockets came up with a victory against the Golden State Warriors. The game ended with Houston winning 116 to 107. After a week from tying the NBA's all-time record for 3-pointers in a game, they proved that they could beat a team without throwing down a bundle of threes. Instead the team used precise ball movements and baseline cuts. Notable players of the game were James Harden, Jeremy Lin, Chandler Parsons, and Omer Asik. Harden score the most points against the Warriors. He had a total of 27 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 5 assists. During the game, Harden had picked up a small ankle injury and was taken out of the game temporarily. Lin had a good game with a total of 14 points and 10 assists. Harden and Lin had a combined 19-for-19 from the free-throw line. The rest of the Rockets were 1-for-6. Chandler Parsons nearly delivered a triple-double with 21 points, 9 assists, and eight rebounds. Asik had 13 points and lead the game with 15 rebounds.

The Rockets headed to Staples Center, Los Angeles, California to play against the Los Angeles Clippers. Houston fell short to obtaining a victory against a tough team. The game ended with Houston trailing 96 to 106. Notable players of the game were Jeremy Lin, Chandler Parsons, and Patrick Patterson. James Harden who is an important player to the team sat out due to an ankle injury from Tuesday. Jeremy Lin had a total of 14 points, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Parsons lead the team with 17 points, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds. Patterson provided the team with 12 points and 6 rebounds. With both games this week, Houston still holds the eighth spot for the Western Conference.

All-Star Weekend was very entertaining. Every athlete who competed this week showed off their skills and why they're stars of the NBA. The three day competition was held at our very own Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Three players from the Rockets had the privilege in participating in this competition. Chandler Parsons was picked to play for Team Shaq in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge. Team Shaq was crushed by Team Chuck by 28 points. Parsons had a decent game with 13 points. James Harden was called up to participate in the Eastern All-Stars VS Western All-Stars and Sears Shooting Stars Competition. Harden was teamed up with WNBA all-time leading scorer Tina Thompson and NBA legend Sam Cassell for the the Sears Shooting Stars Competition. Unfortunately Team Harden's time was a couple seconds to long and loss the competition to Team Bosh. Harden had a decent game for the Western All-Star team. He was able to produce 15 points, 3 assists, and 6 rebounds. His excellent display of scoring on the run and in the paint was something that stood out in the game. The last player to participate was Jeremy Lin. He competed in the Taco Bell Skill Challenge. Lin had the fourth best time out of six other players. He completed the course in 35.8 seconds. This week was great basketball for the Rockets. They were able to get a win and display some of their talented players during All-Star Weekend. Stay tune for next week for more game coverage on the Houston Rockets!

Houston Rockets Road To Glory!

Hello fellow Houston fans! My name is Niki Nguyen and the Rockets are one of my favorite NBA teams. They are currently ranked 8th in the western conference. My favorite players on the team would have to be their point guard Jeremy Lin and shooting guard James Harden. Jeremy Lin has been my favorite NBA player since the Linsanity era in New York. His story is a big inspiration to other players and fans. Lin has been a huge impact for the NBA last year. He brought more viewers from around the world to watching the NBA. Especially NBA fans from China have skyrocketed. My mother even started following the Knicks and Jeremy Lin last year. She would ask me every week when Lin was playing. If she missed the game she would ask how he played. Linsanity is slowly drifting away this year but I believe he will still be an awesome player for the Houston Rockets. With James Harden coming to the Rockets they have a better shot of playing in the playoffs. The Rockets have an extremely young roster this season with an average age of 23.5 and with only one player at the age of 27. So they have time for each of their players to grow to their full potential. This season is a little more than half way through the season. I will provide weekly synopses on how the team is doing. I will include brief game summaries, player stats, injury reports, team news and highlight clips of each game. Hope you enjoy my blog!
